At Dry Eye Solution, we utilise cutting-edge Lumenis IPL devices operated by our on-site eye care experts to effectively treat Dry Eye conditions and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).
Originally designed for dermatological treatments, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) has proven highly effective in addressing issues like rosacea and acne. However, the method for treating ocular conditions is refined through the use of the Lumenis OptiLight, which is specifically tailored for eye care.

How It Works:
IPL therapy delivers short, powerful bursts of light at specific wavelengths (between 515 and 695nm) to target red blood vessels near the surface of the skin and eyes. This process increases skin temperature, eliminates harmful flora, and promotes healthier tissue around the eyes. We follow the renowned protocols developed by Dr. Rolando Toyos (USA), utilising a 590nm filter to ensure optimal results for our patients.
No referral is necessary to begin your treatment journey with us. Our optometrists will conduct a comprehensive Dry Eye Assessment, answer any questions you may have, and create a customised treatment plan that covers your care before, during, and after the procedure. At Dry Eye Solution, we are committed to providing you with the highest level of care and the most effective treatment options available.
Chronic Dry Eye causes red itchy eyelids when the eye glands are unable to normally lubricate the eye and which can cause you much discomfort. Early intervention is recommended to avoid further damage caused by Dry Eye Disease. Ocular rosacea, blepharitis and demodex can be major risk factors in Dry Eye Disease.
IPL Dry Eye patients need a minimum of four treatments, performed two weeks apart, and 3, 6 or 12 monthly follow-up treatments are for maintenance and prevention.

Rosacea is a skin condition causing redness of the face and bumpy skin lesions. It can also be a major contributor to Dry Eye Disease. More than 80% of people with Rosacea will develop Dry Eye Disease. If you suffer from Rosacea you can also experience inflamed and itchy eyelids, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, and moderate to severe dry eyelids.
The IPL machine has been used since 1995 as an effective treatment for rosacea, reducing symptoms after just one session. However, IPL therapy for ocular rosacea typically requires at least four sessions that are performed two weeks apart, and maintenance treatments thereafter.
If you have red eyelids and broken blood vessels you will benefit from this therapy. In the long term, ocular symptoms are kept at bay due to decreased blood supply and inflammation.
Our optometrists create a tailored treatment plan according to your symptoms and needs.
Ocular Rosacea
Inflammation of the eyelids can occur with Dry Eye Disease, also known as blepharitis.
Blepharitis is an infection of the eyelid. It can result in crusted eye-lashes or lid margins and will feel unpleasant and itchy. Symptoms are often worst on waking. Blepharitis is caused by bacteria that normally lives harmlessly on the skin.
It is recommended treating Blepharitis quickly. Left untreated it can accelerate inflammation which can cause the lids to become irritated, red and swollen. The non-production of tears can cause Dry Eye Disease.
